Tesla shareholders approved a massive compensation package for CEO Elon Musk, worth up to $56 billion, after a Delaware court invalidated the original plan. Musk expressed his gratitude, saying „hot damn, I love you guys“ as the preliminary vote results were announced. The package was initially approved in 2018, but a Delaware judge struck it down in January 2024, prompting Tesla to revive the plan and launch an appeal. The vote does not automatically guarantee the payout, but it could strengthen Tesla’s appeal of the Delaware ruling. Analysts believe the passage of the compensation package will ensure Musk remains at the helm of the company, as he had hinted at leaving without a substantial stake in Tesla.
